We have come to a very upsetting place in our electoral process. Doug Lamalfa, in order to advance his political career, has made a habit of destroying others lives. As Bruce Ross points out in his recent Record Searchlight editorial, "this bit of juvenile underhandedness is the sort of dirty trick LaMalfa and his political entourages have long made a specialty. T...his is the guy who, back in 2004, sent out ads linking Tehama County Supervisor Barbara McIver and pornographer Larry Flynt." Most recently, his Chief of Staff, purchased and paid for a website that defamed Sam Aanestad. Doug's supporters are so passionate in their devotion to him, they will call these recent charges "mud slinging", but these allegations are far from "political spats"! Once again, Doug is in the near vicinity of a person's character assassination. It happens too often to be a coincidence, and it is deplorable! Are we so insensitive to this type of behavior that we see it as a reality game show? Lies have been told, and yet we will overlook them. Doug told KRCR...this website was "outside the campaign"...that it has been "taken care of" and we need to move on from this "show in an election they are losing". Is Doug above the law? His first response was he knew nothing of it. Then he altered his answer, a person must have thick skin and be able to take political satire.??? Have we declined, as a people, to the level we will support, endorse and vote for a person that destroys others to advance his political career? This is deplorable. Doug should be ashamed of himself and his staff! Additionally disciplinary action should be taken with his Chief of Staff.

Personally, I think Seaton should change his PO Box to 5150.

5150 is a section of the California Welfare and Institutions Code (specifically, the Lanterman–Petris–Short Act or "LPS") which allows a qualified officer or clinician to involuntarily confine a person deemed to have a mental disorder that makes them a danger to him or her self, and/or others and/or gravely disabled.

As it turns out, other anti Seaton bloggers are experiencing the same treatment by the Ledger Dispatch blog also.
Jack Mitchell is behind Seaton and is betting the Ledger Dispatch's reputation on it.
It's no wonder people from the valley make jokes about the politics up here. If it wasn't so damn true, I could probably see the humor.

I'd like to see an article in the Bee about this. Many who live in the Amador bubble seem to think that what goes on here stays here and all too often it seems to be true. That's why it's so refreshing and encouraging to see someone out of the county take an interest.

That is the great fear. As you have posted in the Ledger, Hermanson will not get a chance to have a public forum where Seaton will not be allowed to first dance around the stage at how great he was, and then attack Hermanson on fabricated issues. It will be up to us in the audience to ask the candidates topical questions, such as: As a seated judge, would you hold those who represented each side of the case presented in court to the same professional standards, and if so, what would you do as a judge if you found that either attorney was not working in the best interest of their client, or that an attorney was under the influence, or was accused of breaching client confidentiality, etc... The game may be rigged, but it isn't over...

Mr. Park,
It seems that you are right on the money regarding the Ledger Dispatch being in the Casino's pocket. After Blogging on the LD website, they have chosen to treat me differently than they treat others who can still blog under their user name. Below is a copy of what I blogged toward the "gentleman" in charge of the Ledger-Dispatch.

@JackMitchell,
How is it that others on your blog continue to post using their blog signon but somehow, when I sign on using my blog name, you have started printing my real name?
I don’t mind, I have nothing to hide, I would however like to be treated fairly and have the same rules applied to me that are applied to others. I have not threatened anybody nor violated your terms of service. As far as I know, all of my blog entries have made it through moderation without problem.
Is this how you treat loyal subscribers to your print newspaper when they disagree with your politics?
Is it because your candidate made a complete fool of himself on Tuesday night?
Whatever the reason, as the man in charge of the newspaper, you should exercise restraint and try to keep your personal/political opinions from clouding your professional decisions.
Your Old Friend,
Jeff Oliver

Aaron, it was pretty bad and went deeper than that as well. Having met and listened to Seaton for the very first time, I can tell you that he is a slick one. Arguably a top notch defense lawyer when he wants to be. He was able to take two very small items: a Hermanson mailer which wondered why the casino would give 10k to Seaton's campaign and a You Tube video on Hermanson's Facebook page where a photo of the court room in session was taken. His strategy for the mailer was too insist that this was an attack directed toward the casino and that Hermanson might have a bias toward the indigenous. Later when asked if Seaton was calling Hermanson racist, Seaton said "yes". When Hermanson was allowed to rebuttal, he stated that this was not directed toward the casino but that it raised intent and motive. As for the court room photo, it was granted by Richmond and taken by the Ledger.
It's funny, but the mediator's intent to keep the forum questions to that of candidate qualifications and plans for the future fell short right from the beginning when Seaton used his opening statement to briefly tell us of his past accomplishments and the extended remainder of his time to attack Hermanson as previously mentioned without censor.
What was worse, Seaton was asked if he had a plan for what he would engage himself in if elected. He first said that he had no real or definite plan per say, then switched to helping the veterans with programs. An interesting point came to light in reference to Seaton’s regale of constitutional law, when both candidates were questioned about a judges responsibilities to remain within the guidelines of the law as it is written or a judges use of guidelines that conform to our times and public opinion. (meaning, can a judge use the current “feel” or public opinion of the time time to sway his motion) . Seaton stated that yes, it is within the judges domain to allow current opinion and the times to dictate judgement. Hermanson on the other hand stated no, constitutional and legislative law were to guide the judgement, not the times. Possibly an indication by Seaton of what we might expect when donor's find the need to return to the wishing well. We'll see what the next forum will hold, and this time I think we'll come better prepared to ask questions directed to both candidates that will draw out the intended. Wish us good hunting!

Hi Aaron,
Thank you once again for writing, your accounts are spot on and a telling of what corruption is and it's depth. The forum was very interesting this evening and you didn't miss much. Steve Hermanson was first and used his time to explain his intentions and plans and was very well received. Seaton used his time to expound upon his military service (thank you) experience in law enforcement and then straight to attacking Hermanson. The highlight was Seaton bandstanding with a Hermanson mailer on judgeships for sale with the casino. Seaton wondered aloud is racism wasn't an issue. The crowd, mostly Hermanson supports gasped and later that evening Seaton was rasked again if he was accusing Hermanson with racism and Seaton confirmed it. Seaton was correct in one regard, this race (and forum) was very much like a court proceeding. Where as, we were limited to what we were allowed to ask the candidates. Second question of the evening was from someone from the Central Committee with accusations to Hermanson if he condoned attacks against candidates that were harmful or harming children. Of course, Mr. Hermanson was able to voice that he would never harm a child as the mediator stopped and cautioned the women that such questions were not allowed. I thought that I would try my hand at Seaton with reference to the Perdue case and confidentiality allegations... Shot down. There were many in attendance that wanted to ask hard hitting questions that had direct dealings with Seaton's representation and qualifications, but knew that access would not be allowed. Mr. Hermanson did an outstanding job and someone I will continue to believe and trust in. You my fine sir are a credit for what you believe in and what you write. The blogs will be quiet at the Ledger unless a bomb shell hits about Seaton. Keep writing, we are interested (now) in our future and those that would represent us. Phil
