Don’t Wait for a Referendum – Deal with the Districts as they are
You can’t predict tomorrow – especially if the Unions and their whores in the media come out fangs bared to stop a referendum.
Here are the final Districts in Placer:
SD04 – LaMalfa has Roseville and Western Placer.
SD01 – Ted Gaines is moving and has the rest of Placer all the way up to Siskiyou, Modoc, Shasta. Ted Gaines wins, get over it – even if the unions, RINO’s et. al. come after Gaines.
AD06 – Beth Gaines has Roseville, Granite Bay, Lincoln, Rocklin, Penryn, Loomis, Orangevale, Fair Oaks, Folsom, El Dorado Hills and Cameron Park.
Beth Gaines is in serious debt from her recent race – there is some question with the new districts if the “third house” is going to give much to Republicans since it seems that soon they will be completely irrelevant in state government. Will Beth draw a Republican Opponent in this +20 district?
AD05 – this is the State-Level District that will breed the fireworks in Placer. First off – this district has Newcastle and Auburn in it from Placer. It has ElDorado minus Cameron Park and El Dorado Hills + all of Amador, Calaveras, Alpine, Mono, Toulumne, Mariposa and Madera Counties in it.
The rumored candidates as I understand them are El Dorado County Supervisor Ray Nutting, Auburn City Councilmeber Kevin Hanley and Madera County Supervisor Frank Bigelow.
I know Nutting and Hanley well – I do not know Bigelow at all.
AD-01 – Dan Logue has moved in to Nevada County. This is his race to lose. The RINO’s and the Labor Unions are rumored to be looking over some Shasta County liberals like Stan Statham (who is now a DTS) to run against Logue.
CD-04 – with a recent Bee article, this district that takes in 90% of Placer and stretches down the foothills to rural Fresno County is McClintock Country – but the Bee stated emphatically that Dan Lungren could move in to the district and take on McClintock.
If that happens – it will be Ose V. McClintock on steroids. I predict that should Lungren run against McClintock, it will be national news all the way to the wire.
CD-01 – Herger. This takes in roughly 10% of Placer and goes all the way to Siskiyou. Herger wins.
Situation Normal.
Remember how the FPPC exhonerated the Placer County Republican Central Committee? Didn’t it seem odd that the Fresno and Stanislaus committee were not mentioned that much in any stories that ran all over the state until the FPPC finished their investigation?
The statewide media had help. The same person who shopped the stories about the Placer County Republican Central Committee’s non-scandal has turned his sights on Tom Hudson.
The agenda of Doug Elmets and the Sacramento Bee meet again – the template of the National Media is to Show a Divisive, mean Republican Party that clings to its’ Guns and Bibles. Elmets, because he has an axe to grind is a willing co-conspirator.
Enter Doug Elmets as Quoted by the Bee:
“I would not want to be in a position of debating him on any issue,” said Doug Elmets, a local political consultant who is not on the committee. “It would be exhausting. And no matter how right you think you are, he would declare victory.”
Elmets said Hudson should be careful not to let his passion get in the way.
“Sometimes those who are the most passionate lose their objectivity and ultimately become more controversial than constructive,” he said.
It is refreshing to see Doug Elmets come out of the shadows – It was Principle that carried the day for Tom McClintock in 2008 and it will be principle that will carry the day for Rick Keene in 2010. The significance of seeing Doug Elmets quoted in these articles is borne by what the reporter omitted:
Elmets’ main client is the United Auburn Indian Tribe. (The Auburn Tribe is viewed as amongst the most anti-Republican in the state) Doug Elmets is also active in re-assembling the same endorsement list for Doug LaMalfa that Liberal Millionaire Former Congressman Doug Ose had in 2008.
Now that Elmets is out in the open – let’s point out the absurdities of his friends in the Bee:
Hudson is not the only one that thinks Meg Whitman is a Democrat. (She campaigned for Boxer in 2004, gave wads to Enviro Groups, Supports Benefits for Non-Citizens, Supports Taxpayer Funded Abortion, etc…)
Peter Hill and Jim Holmes both have a history of supporting tax and fee increases which they were rightly criticized for. This fact is deliberately omitted by the Bee in their numerous stories attempting to portray Peter Hill and would-be Congressman Jim Holmes as victims.
The Placer Cent Com was a top performer in the dismal 2008 election cycle for registrations and because of technicalities had to wait until after the election was over to receive the bounty check from the California GOP.
There will be no attempt as the Bee alleges to unseat Tom Hudson – in fact, the criticism has only served to validate his leadership.
The Central Committee’s endorsement of Tom McClintock was a stunning counter-weight to the local electeds who rallied behind Liberal Millionaire Former Congressman Doug Ose in 2008.
And therein lies the rub.
That’s the bottom line – their editorial board decided to back up the rantings Peter Hill. I posted Hill’s self-centered rant that he blasted out to several people the other day. Hill and others are angry at the Placer County Republican Central Committee for involving itself in the affairs of local government. I have a news flash: IT’S OUR JOB – and what the voters who elected the Central Committee expect!
Read the Editorial Here – they suggest that Conservative values could have been promoted by supporting the renewal of the Rocklin Park Tax. I kid you not… and that we DESERVED to have Peter Hill leave the GOP because of it. They also imply that the Central Committee is the reason why Republican Registration has flatlined in Placer County.
Ironically, they point to the renewal of the Rocklin Park Tax as a reason to show how the Cent Com is out of touch. A low-turnout special election that was fully funded where an overwhelming minority of Rocklin’s Citizens voted 83% to renew the Park Tax. I voted against it – and I had decided to let the matter go. But, the Bee and Mr. Hill pointed to the Park Tax and Omitted the fact that Hill in the 1980′s, then a Democrat, voted to put the original tax in place. They also neglected to mention that the Park Tax failed in 2008 regular election because Hill and others jacked it from $30 a house to $45 and inserted indexing in to it – the Central Committee opposed that measure as well. But, Note that the first rendetion of the Park Tax was not supported unanimously by the Rocklin City Council.
Again – the Bee Aborts journalism in their zeal to stick it to Conservatives.
Start with this paragraph: “That isn’t the only sign that the Central Committe’s hard line isn’t resonating, even on Placer County’s GOP-friendly turf. Placer’s Republican registration has been basically flat the past three years. The Democrats are up modestly. But the nonpartisan category Peter Hill joined this week is up sharply, and now makes up nearly 20 percent of the county’s registered voters.”
The person who has been feeding the Sacramento Bee their data – (the FPPC stuff, the E-Mail from Tom Hudson, etc) must have also fed them their talking points.
According to what our volunteers have told us – people left the GOP over Bush, Arnold, McCain. Tax-raising Moderates, all.
According to data we discovered after the election – there was substantial election fraud committed. That could also artificially lower the Registration percentage… ACORN workers came across the border into Eastern Placer County / Truckee etc for a time in the last cycle. When we called the new registrants – we got dozens of “he doesn’t live here anymore” answers and still more, “Who is that?” answers. Curious, isn’t it? Since that doesn’t fit the paradigm of the Bee, the above facts are Omitted.
At a time when brutal choices loom everywhere to bring spending and revenue into balance, when the Democrat Party too often acts like a compliant subsidiary of public employee unions it’s desperately important that Republicans have something to offer besides “No.” By drawing the line at a park maintenance fee, it appears Placer’s Republican Central Committee hasn’t gotten that message. It’s an attitude that could be tragic for a region and state that badly need a responsible conservative opposition.
Actually, we have gotten that message. This is why Peter Hill took his ball and went home. The unfortunate legacy of the past is that the Central Committees looked the other way as local Republican officeholders raised taxes and fees. The aforementioned Park Tax – was originally supported by then Democrat Peter Hill!
When Local electeds raise taxes and fees consistently – there is nothing left to do other than oppose and attempt to recruit candidates to run against those raising taxes. Since, the Bee generally supports liberal tax-and-spend policies and bigger government… it is easier to put the Central Committee in to a box.
The Tea Party movement and results of November 2009′s elections show that Americans are demanding leadership. Obama fooled people into thinking he was the one who could lead, as McCain looked like Bush only 10 years older.
Now Obama’s supporters in the Bee are attempting to tell the Central Committee how to do business. Absurd.
