There is so much on Abel Maldonado that it is hard to pick a starting point. He introduced himself to the 2010 Lt. Gov campaign with a choice swipe at Republican Activists.
I was watching the confirmation hearings on the California Channel with my brother (who is Sam Aanestad’s Campaign Manager) – I could hardly believe my ears when Jose Solorio ripped in to Maldonado on the Floor of the Assembly lambasting him for having a price for voting on the budget.
For some strange reason, the Assembly Republicans voted as a block to promote Maldo to Lt. Governor. Maybe their strategists and consultants have some sort of master plan, as the excuse du jour is, “we need to get him out of here.”
Principle be dammed – even worse, the Tea Party folks are watching. This Central Committee Member and activist is mad as hell.
Patrick Dorinson – Maldo’s Campaign manager welcomed Abel Maldonado in to the race by attacking Republican activists all over the state:
“I’m tired of seeing the Orange County and Placer County axis try to run the Republican Party in this state,” says GOP consultant Patrick Dorinson. “They should be happy to get a Latino Republican in that job.”
Liberal SOP: If you have a flawed candidate – PLAY THE RACE CARD!
Problem – Maldonado’s laundry list is so astounding that people will forget, and I mean easily forget anything but what the man has done to us in California.
It makes Jose Solorio’s Comments even more timely – he compared what Maldonado’s vote meant versus Anthony Adams, Roger Niello and Roy Ashburn – all of whom he mentioned by name and thanked for voting for the budget without a price tag.
P.S. Please join this blogger and call your Assemblymember and tell them to VOTE NO on the confirmation of Abel Maldonado.
Updated 2/19/2010 from original posting 2/4/2010
As we learned from the Orange Juice Blog – Chip Hanlon is a paid vassal of Meg Whitman for Governor. He never disclosed this – and still hasn’t even after being exposed as a fraud.
Chip Hanlon and Matt “Jerbal” Cunningham have exempted themselves from their own standard of disclosure. Hey, they own the place – they can be hypocrites… comes with ownership. The problem is when you are a public leader – your standard has to be higher than that of everyone else.
Many times – I spoke with Hanlon on the phone and every time, he complained about the fact that Steve Poizner’s campaign did not purchase an ad on the Red County system. We now know that this was a red herring as Hanlon’s firm greenfaucet.com was a recipient of Whitman’s lavish campaign cash.
When Chip Hanlon chose to very publicly and aggressively expel this blogger from the Red County system – he made threats including threatening to Sue either myself or Steve Poizner for lost advertising revenues…
And given the fact that Hanlon openly blustered about Poizner’s sleazy campaign tactics and how he was using me in lieu of purchasing an ad…
The issue all along was the money.
It is a not-too-closely guarded secret that the Red County system is a money loser. The Whitman ad on the home page of the site is worth a reputed $2500 a month – which seems to have been a low estimate when you look at $20K that greenfaucet.com received from Whitman, one could easily draw the conclusion that Whitman bought Chip Hanlon.
Look closer – the payment to greenfaucet was dated 12/03/2009 – I was expelled 12/09/2009. Calbuzz actually got it backward in their post from a few weeks ago.
Fake Blog Post?
Some in Southern California will remember the post I put up that was deleted within a couple hours about the Orange County Lincoln Club endorsing Steve Poizner for Governor. Chip Hanlon asked me to put it up and ultimately, Matt Cunningham deleted it after people in Orange County complained about it.
It was a ploy for traffic.
Deleted Posts
Several contributors to the Red County System have had posts deleted – including myself.
During the Doug Ose vs. Tom McClintock primary – I had posts far less incendiary than those I wrote against Meg Whitman deleted.
I remember a posting about a news story regarding a fundraiser that Linda Ackerman was employing – Matt Cunningham deleted my post and emailed me regarding “Dez” – one of the subjects of the media firestorm. (The stories referred to her as Desiree – so apparently Cunningham knew her)
People have emailed me screen shots of comments that either Hanlon or Cunningham deleted.
None of this paints a bright ethical picture for the Blog that expelled Sgt. York and grandstanded on the platform of ethics.
It’s interesting that the same circles that produced Mike Duvall also are home to Cunningham and Hanlon… things that make you go hmmm…
Smashmouth politics.
As expected, Abel Maldonado’s All-Star team is starting to form. Senator En-Abel (as in enable State Government to expand), soon to be Lt. Gov EnAbel – because his colleagues want to get rid of him – received a late contribution from a rock-solid Democrat Major Donor…
Michael E. Fox, Sr – just gave EnAbel for Lt Governor $6,500.
Senator EnAbel’s name is now enshrined with:
Joe Smitan
John Garamendi
Abel Maldonado
Jim Beall
Elaine Alquist
All are liberals, only EnAbel forgot to register Democrat like the rest of them…

www.rightondaily.com – exposing fraud in the Republican Party. (Even though Abel Maldonado makes it easy)
So LaMalfa invested in a headquarters in Lincoln. He also has amassed largely the same endorsement list as Doug Ose before him.
Remember how LaMalfa steadfastly supported Ose, appearing in his ads.
However, the strategy of David Reade – employed so effectively in the past with Dan Osterander (Former Butte Dem Chairman who re-registered to run for assembly), Dick Dickerson (One of the original budget sell-outs) and Sue Horne – is going back to the well again.
The David Reade formula: Go get 2/3 or more of the local electeds to endorse your candidate and hope that substitutes for grassroots activity.
Funny how the candidates that work end up winning – endorsement lists do not a candidate make.
Meantime – it looks like Doug LaMalfa is unraveling himself. Is David Reade going to dip in to LaMalfa’s checkbook – or is Reade going to cut bait for his gig with Whitman?
Just hit the wire from the San Francisco Chronicle – another of the usual articles seeking to make it look like the GOP is missing the boat with Latinos. The writer assumes that Latinos are going to support Maldonado solely because he is Latino. (sigh) Their evidence – immigrant workers at an SF Hotel that wanted their pictures taken with Maldo.
Sorry – once people look at their tax returns, Maldo is dead. They will either vote for a real Socialist (Dem) or Sam Aanestad for Lt. Governor.
Look at the end of the article, ”
“I’m tired of seeing the Orange County and Placer County axis try to run the Republican Party in this state,” says GOP consultant Patrick Dorinson. “They should be happy to get a Latino Republican in that job.”
Patrick Dorinson, like most liberals runs to the old reliable race baiting. Note that Dorinson was a lifelong Democrat before taking Arnold as a client.
Where do the Governor Candidates stand? (quoting the Article)
The differing positions of three Republican candidates for governor underscore the GOP’s quandary:
Former South Bay Rep. Tom Campbell strongly backs Maldonado’s confirmation, saying, “he’d be an excellent lieutenant governor and most importantly an excellent partner” for Schwarzenegger.
State Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner opposes Maldonado’s confirmation, his spokesman Jarrod Agen said, adding, “They have a total disagreement on taxes, given that Abel supports tax increases and Steve Poizner wants to cut taxes.”
Sarah Pompei, Meg Whitman’s campaign spokeswoman, said Friday that “Abel Maldonado is Gov. Schwarzenegger’s choice. Meg believes the Legislature should move forward and confirm him.”
Just one Blogger writing here – but I think the Orange-Placer Axis is going to have a lot to say about both the Guv and Lt. Guv race. Maldonado ain’t it either.
